Program Overview:
This Senior Seminar will pose questions of "value and belief" within the complex context of Irish history and culture. The aim of the course is to experience the rich heritage of Irish art, literature, politics, and wit, and to discover the spiritual qualities in these and other dimensions of Irish life and thought.

As a 4-credit Senior Seminar, this May Term will expose students to a broad range of experiences and adventures as we travel throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland for 3 weeks. All aspects of Irish culture will be explored-- religion, politics, history, art, literature, theater, music, and nature. This encounter with a foreign but still very accessible culture has proven to be a stimulating and enlightening backdrop for students' understanding of, reflection on, and articulation of their own life view in their final paper for the course. Some preparatory reading is required and 3-4 group meetings will be held during the spring semester prior to our departure in May.
