Palo Alto, California - Bayshore Christian Ministries

Program Overview
Theme: Education in Urban Ministry
Bayshore Christian Ministries (BCM) has been impacting the youth and families in the East Palo Alto community for 25 years.
As a part of this team, you will have an opportunity to work with a full-time, year round, urban ministry that focuses on the youth of the community -- their spiritual growth and their education.

Through classroom visits at local schools, participating in the BCM tutoring program, and hearing from leaders in education from the community, you will explore the ways that race and economics are impacting access to a quality education in this country -- and what Christians are called to do about it.

This trip will include flights for travel rather than solely ground transportation.

Student Experiences
“My faith was strengthened because I was able to witness how God was working through the students lives in East Palo Alto. Despite the hardships in their lives they still have so much faith and a fire to get to know the Lord.”
-Freshman, Nicole

"I loved seeing how God is working in parts of the country that I had not been very familiar with before the trip. The power of prayer was something I took away from the trip
and how God delights in answering them. I loved
connecting with the people on my team and feel so lucky that I get to have a new and amazing support system back on campus!"
-Sophomore, Rachel

"God showed me hope in places which seemed hopeless. He showed me how to love everyone - no matter our differences. My faith was expanded through the faith of the children - who thought they did not have much to be thankful for - but still believed in God and loved him and knew he was there. Their strength and hope poured into me."
-Freshman, Cassidy
