Program Description:

New Orleans, LA
New Orleans, LA
Program Overview:

Theme: NOLA History and God: A Tradition of Resilience

New Orleans, Louisiana has a rich and complex history. It is a special place where everyone, whether natives, transplants, or visitors, is welcome, yet the city has struggled mightily with systemic corruption, oppression, and neglect of various kinds. With the benefits of jazz music, an upbeat attitude of resilience and unity, and faith, "The Big Easy" is rightly characterized as someplace where the people have a rich legacy of enduring and doing so with style and humility, and a deep sense of pride. Students will explore these dynamics, spending time in the Lower 9th Ward and at the Musicians Village, Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, and the Whitney Plantation. We will serve most days at the New Orleans orleans musicians village
